Hello Everyone,
Writing this on the first day of Autumn, where here in Seattle we've been having a mild and glorious golden end of summer, as all of our country contends with this absurd and fractious election season. I hope you all will make sure to vote! I know I'm very excited to be voting for Harris/Walz!
Closer to home, my new solo show "Stories We Tell Ourselves"
will be opening on October's First Thursday Art Walk in Seattle's Pioneer Square. I'm very excited to show you the work I've been making over the summer in response to the surreal world we are all living in.
Artist Opening: October 3rd, 6 - 8
CORE Gallery
117 Prefontaine Pl S
Seattle, WA 98104
October 3 - 26, 2024

Hello One and All,
Here we are in a new year, wading through the political morass that is an election year, along with multiple horrifying conflicts on various world stages, and yet, to quote Samuel Beckett, " I can't go on. I'll go on."
As signs of Spring begin to emerge in the garden, in the studio I'm finishing up a couple of commissions, and, of course, the sorting of detritus from past projects continues on.
For the first time in a while, I now have openings for commissions going forward, please use the contact page for inquiries. Completion would probably be a year out, depending on the size and scope of the project.
There are also several paintings from past series available for sale, click on PAINTINGS above to view them and see details.
I am currently out of my BIRD card packs, but will be reordering soon.
ALSO: My next show at CORE Gallery will be OCTOBER 2024. I'll be creating the work for that throughout the year, though I'm not ready to air my thoughts on a theme just yet.
STAY TUNED!
Cheers, Jessica

Happy Holidays and End of Another Crazy Year to Everyone!
My October show -- Above, Below & In-Between --- at CORE Gallery went really well, with good attendance, especially for our mid-month music event at the gallery with Christy McWilson and West Seattle 3 (with my husband W on bass)! We had such a good time seeing so many friends and family members coming down to share a super fun afternoon of Art, Food, Drink and Music! BIG Thanks to those of you who came by to raise a glass with us!
Happily, also there were many sales from the show! You can see all the work if you click on the PAINTINGS gallery in the MENU above, and peruse the few pieces left which are still for sale. As always, feel free to reach out to me about any work you are interested in purchasing, I am also happy to work out payment arrangements.
I have decided not to have an in-person Studio Show again this year. After 4 years, during these recent COVID times, of various (theater, mural, painting) projects of many kinds coming out of my studio w/out the various materials being properly cleared and packed away each time, I just didn't feel ready to get the studio "Show Ready" for guests AND make new work for a Holiday Show as well, BUT, I do have a virtual Holiday "show" you can access via my Facebook page, and I do now have some more of the Bird Card Packs, which you can reach out to me directly about through the contact page on this site. (they are packs of 10 cards with envelopes for $25 ea).
I'm hoping in December 2024 I'll be ready to welcome folks back into my studio again!
Despite the impending, and stress inducing, election coming up in 2024, and the dreadful and disturbing events happening around the world, I hope you and your loved ones can find a way to carve out some joyous and peaceful moments in the coming months.
Till Next Year!
Cheers, Jessica

Hello!
I am very pleased to announce that my show of all new work is now up. In this current series of figurative oil paintings (on both canvas, and glass), I deploy allegory & metaphor to speak about these weird times we're in.
You can see images of the paintings in the show by clicking on
the PAINTINGS selection in the MENU above.

Cafe NORDO Update as of February 2023:
I'm sad to say that the excellent immersive theater (CAFE NORDO) that I've been working with the past couple of years will be closing down for a bit after 8 years at 109 Main St in Seattle's Pioneer Square district, it may be a year or so to find another "permanent" home.
AND IN THE MEANTIME, KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR RANDOM POP-UP NORDO SHOWS THAT MAY BE HAPPENING IN ODD & INTRIGUING SPACES AROUND OUR AREA - I WILL POST ABOUT THEM HERE AS THEY HAPPEN!
(if you don't know who CAFE NORDO is, go here: https://www.cafenordo.com/ and check 'em out!. To see my previous posts about the recent shows [2022 season] at CAFE NORDO scroll to the bottom.)
MY PREVIOUS POST ABOUT CAFE NORDO'S 2022 SEASON:
Since Feb 2021, I've had the great good fortune to be working with the fine folks at Cafe Nordo (first as a production artist on *ROOM SERVICE - interactive theatrical experience boxes delivered to your home during the COVID lockdown) - BUT, Happily, theaters and restaurants are accessible now, so Cafe Nordo is having LIVE SHOWS again (as of last fall) and it was really great to be able to get back to designing and painting/dressing sets again.
We just opened a beautifully immersive & haunting theatrical experience in our upstairs space (September - through November 20, 2022) called "SPIRIT PARLOUR". I was delighted to be part of this stellar creative team; getting to design, in addition to scenic painting and generally conjuring up some delicious atmospheric magic. It is not to be missed!
Go here for more details: https://www.cafenordo.com/spirit-parlour
"DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE" which opened in our downstairs space The Knife Room last fall was my first scenic project for Nordo. It was so successful and well attended that we have kept it going on and off from late 2021 through this summer, and is back again for a final run through November 20. 2022. I HIGHLY recommend catching that White Rabbit before it gets away for good this time! It is a very enjoyable evening of visual treats, hilarious Carrollian nonsense, wonderful actors/singers (yes, it's a bit of a musical), yummy food, spiffy cocktails and some excellent karaoke (which you do NOT have to participate in, no one will force you.)
We're ending the year, and ringing in the Holidays, in our usual fashion with another wacky and thrilling Holiday tale of inappropriate shenanigans and MURDER from the pen of local brilliant (and brilliantly funny) playwright Scot Auguston with
'HOMICIDE FOR THE HOLIDAYS". Starring the ever effervescent Bo Mellinger as the host of this dark musical whimsy (Bo was last seen adeptly, and tunefully, enchanting audiences as THE White Rabbit in our longest running show "Down The Rabbit Hole). I got to do some set painting and dressing on this show too, which is always a treat.
NOT TO BE MISSED, THIS WILL BE OUR LAST SHOW IN THIS SPACE, SO GET YOUR TIX NOW, THEY ARE GOING LIKE HOT-CROSSED BUNS!
REMINDER: During the lockdown, NORDO pivoted to creating a beautiful and intriguing line of cunning "theatrical" storytelling-experiences-in-your-home Boxes with cocktails and dessert included, and an online link with clues and live action segments to help you navigate the stories. My job was primarily fashioning all the mysterious clues and delightful ephemera for these through Cafe Nordo's "Room Service" - We are continuing to offer our boxes ongoing: https://www.cafenordo.com/ (EDIT - THESE ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE)
